II INTERNATIONAL DESALINATION SEMINAR IN ANTOFAGASTA
Development and sustainability for Latin America
The North of Chile, located in the driest desert of
the world, has a great population and industrial growth, mainly related
with mining projects, which require a reliable and sustainably water
supply in permanent growth.
As a result, the desalination technology is presented as a reliable
alternative which has been proven in countries like Spain, Australia
and Middle East. These countries have faced similar challenges to those
faced by this region, such as drinking water supply for cities and
industrial water for current mining sites and mine development projects.
Consequently, desalination becomes a strategic tool for economic development
of the North of Chile and southwest of South America.
On that account, in 2008 it took place the 1st International
Desalination Seminar in Antofagasta, which was organized by the University
of Antofagasta and Aguas de Antofagasta S.A., with the participation
of leading desalination consultants, plant manufacturers and desalination
equipment suppliers.
Now in 2010, for the second version of this seminar, Aguas de
Antofagasta S.A. has joined with Universidad Católica del Norte
through the Water Technology Research Center for Arid Zones (CEITSAZA)
to carry out the coordination and execution of the seminar. The objective
of this seminar is to present new technologies to improve desalination
plant operations, design, construction and plant operation experiences
around the world, as well as desalination business development experiences
and related activities.
The seminar venue will become in the main meeting point in South
America where there will be equipment suppliers, manufacturers, consultants
and final customers, as well as government regulators, collage students,
scholars and researchers interested in desalination technology as well
as South American government entities in charge of water issues who
are responsible for planning public policy and authorities related
with environmental regulations from Chile and South America.
On this page you will find information about exhibitors, sponsor,
